Greetings from your Friends at Lenawee Community Foundation
Times like this remind us about what matters the most – our families, friends and co-workers; our compassion for others; and our love for our community. We are honored to work alongside so many caring people in our community, who are making a difference every day. Thank you. Please know that we are lifting you up in our thoughts and keeping you close in our hearts.
We are open to serve Lenawee, as follows:
- Even though our office doors are locked, staff members are working remotely every day to serve the community we love. We are providing information and referral, as well as collecting and distributing funds to the nonprofits on the frontlines serving our community during the COVID-19 crisis.
- We are Lenawee’s primary center for community resources. If you or someone you know needs assistance, go to the resources section on our webpage or contact us.
- See the news release below for exciting news about community heroes stepping up to address COVID-19, and how you can be part of our community response.

Community Heroes Among Us!
Our community should be incredibly grateful to three organizations willing to step up without hesitation – Kiwanis Club of Adrian, Adrian Morning Rotary Club, and Gleaner Life Insurance Society! They are partnering with Lenawee Cares, a program of Lenawee Community Foundation, to provide the lead gifts to help our neighbors in need.
When our community initiated Lenawee Cares, local residents told us that they wanted to support the basic needs of the people here, such as food, housing and utilities. We also told donors that we were going to set aside 10% of every gift into an endowment to be saved for when the economy was struggling and the needs were greater than ever. We had no idea that day would arrive so quickly, before we had an opportunity to build the endowment to a significant amount. But here we are.
We are announcing the release of $50,000 of the Lenawee Cares endowment as match monies. For every gift contributed by a service club, business, or any person, a dollar-for-dollar match will be provided to help local nonprofits provide for the basic needs of people in our community. When you give $25, there’s a $25 match. A $50 gift gets a $50 match. Whatever your gift, it will be doubled.
Would you like to help? Go to www.lenaweecf.com, click on the Donate Now button and put in the amount. Then, put COVID-19 in the notes, so your gift will go to this special response fund. Or, you can mail a check payable to Lenawee Community Foundation to P.O. Box 142, Tecumseh, MI 49286 with COVID-19 on the memo line.
If you are able and would like to show how much you care about people here in our Lenawee County community, we invite your participation in addressing immediate needs. These days, it’s likely the only place where your money can be doubled – and for a good cause!
With Gratitude to the People of this Wonderful Community!
