The Lenawee Community Foundation has been building the health, happiness, and hope of our county’s residents for more than 25 years. Through a partnership with donors, we’ve been able to leverage charitable efforts and strengthen nonprofit organizations, enhancing the quality of life for all. To expand our transformational impact, we have launched the Health, Happiness, and Hope (H3) Fund, a $2 million investment, designed to address today’s urgent needs while also looking ahead to prepare for future community opportunities and challenges.
The dramatic and unanticipated impact of the pandemic illuminated the critical need for flexibility. Today’s priorities may not be the ones we face tomorrow based on changing public health needs, natural disasters, or community opportunities. To ensure we can pivot and respond in real-time, the Foundation seeks flexibility with its funding.
Currently, there are very limited amounts of unrestricted funds available to meet community needs and challenges. Most of the funds held at Lenawee Community Foundation are restricted to specific areas, fields of interest, or scholarships. The Foundation is often unable to fund critical nonprofit programs and community projects because there is not a fund to match the request. The H3 Fund will grow unrestricted assets and allow us to be nimble, flexible, and responsive to our community’s greatest needs and opportunities.
To make our vision a reality, the Foundation is developing a two-pronged funding model: we intend to raise $2 million that will be used for both Rapid Response as well as Long-term Solutions. To help us meet this bold goal, a generous donor has stepped forward and committed to matching every donation to the H3 Fund up to $1M. The Foundation Board of Directors has also personally committed over $200,000 and we are now asking you to join us as a contributor to this ambitious fund.
