Do you need something to do this summer?

Thinking about your summer plans? Join the Lenawee YOUTH Council.

We have three college visits planned and Lenawee Youth Leadership happening.  The Lenawee YOUTH Council (LYC) is made up of local young people ages 12-21.  We volunteer, make grants, develop leadership skills, and work on career planning.

This summer we will volunteer with Hospice of Lenawee, Associated Charities, and Lenawee Community Foundation.  We will deliver almost $20,000 in grants to local youth programs.

The LYC will visit Michigan State University, Saginaw Valley State University, and Ferris State University.  Join us on June 10 to tour Michigan State, June 24 to tour Saginaw Valley, and July 29 to tour Ferris State.  To sign up for the visits, contact Paula Trentman at the Lenawee Community Foundation at 517-423-1729.

We also sponsor Lenawee Youth Leadership day camp.  Lenawee Youth Leadership will be held onJuly 8, 9 and 10 at Madison School from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day.  The cost is $50, however scholarships are available.  Youth ages 12 – 19 are welcome to attend, however preregistration is required.  A light breakfast, lunch and snacks will be provided.  This summer day camp will give young people the opportunity to learn about leadership, goal setting, teamwork, communication, and creative problem solving.

Lenawee Youth Leadership is for young persons who want to increase their leadership skills and have their voices heard.  Youth participate in hands-on, decision-making activities assisted by trained facilitators, including youth who have previously participated.  Youth attendees learn about making a difference in the lives of others, and have lots of fun along the way.

Be a part of a brighter future, celebrate success and be amazed at what you can accomplish by making a few plans this summer.
