Martin Luther King Day, A day on. Not a day off!

“Everybody can be great…because anybody can serve.” ~ Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Martin Luther King Day is January, 19th 2015.  It is the day to honor MLK, a man, a mission, a clear vision on what needed to be done to create change. This is a day of reflection. A day of looking back. It is a day to celebrate those who have changed the face of our ever changing world, and to do our part.

We have a unique opportunity to unite in volunteer service and to do what we do best – lend a hand, help our neighbors – and build better communities. Since Dr. King’s famous “I have a Dream” speech in 1963, tremendous social progress has been made, but much remains unfinished. We believe that people have the power to make positive change, through volunteerism.

What are you doing for others?  This holiday, honor Dr. King’s vison for a better America by volunteering in our community. Take time to gather your friends, family, or co-workers to schedule a volunteer project of your own.  Together we can make a difference here in Lenawee County.
