25th annual Family Volunteer Day – Saturday, November 21st

It doesn’t take a lot of time to make a big difference on Family Volunteer Day.

The 25th annual Family Volunteer Day is on Saturday, November 21st, 2015.  It kicks off the holiday season with giving and service. Volunteering is a wonderful way for families to spend quality time together and expand their horizons by volunteering and serving others.

Volunteering is filled with “teachable moments.” Each year, thousands of families take this day to teach children valuable, real-life lessons about compassion and caring.  It also provides a way for children to fulfill school service requirements and develop leadership skills. Volunteering as a family can help inspire a lifetime of service and encourage the next generation to become active members of the community.

Family Volunteer Day is a day of service that celebrates the power of families, who volunteer together to support their neighbors and neighborhoods. Volunteering also can be a great way for kids and adults to develop skills, learn more about their community, and make friends.

There are lots of easy and fun ways to get involved no matter how much time you have.  From small acts of kindness like donating books or toys to enlisting your family to take part in a community service project, doing good with your family is easy and the list of possible activities is endless.

Family volunteering is a great holiday tradition to start, and there’s no time like now to begin.  VOLUNTEER Lenawee!, a program of the Lenawee Community Foundation, can connect you to family-oriented opportunities.  Visit www.volunteerlenawee.com or call (517) 423-1729 to learn more about volunteer opportunities today!
