The Lenawee YOUTH Council was awarded a Game Changer grant from the Detroit Pistons
The Lenawee YOUTH Council (LYC), a program of the Lenawee Community Foundation, was recently awarded a Game Changer grant from the Detroit Pistons. The grant was awarded to the LYC for a volunteer project benefiting Re-Bicycle Lenawee, in partnership with the Maple City Arbor of Gleaner Life Insurance Society.
Re-Bicycle Lenawee works to provide bicycles for individuals who do not have a vehicle for transportation, with the goal to help them get or maintain employment, education, or training; keep appointments; and maintain physical and mental wellness. Re-Bicycle Lenawee helps Lenawee residents by meeting their basic needs, assisting with financial stability, and maintaining good health. Individuals who participate pay a small fee, participate in the program and volunteer in support of Re-Bicycle. The grant from the Pistons Foundation will allow us to purchase safety equipment, tool kits, spare parts, degreaser, head lights, tires, tubes, brakes, trailers, water bottles, and cables!
The Lenawee YOUTH Council is composed of local youth ages 12 and older who volunteer, make grants, and promote philanthropy among their peers. The Lenawee Community Foundation invests in our youth because they are the future of our community.
The Lenawee YOUTH Council is doing a bike drive in conjunction with the Maple City Arbor of Gleaner Life Insurance Society for Join Hands Day on May 3. Bikes will be accepted anytime until and including the May volunteer day.
