The Legacy Society – Dick Family
Today a child will learn something new at preschool to prepare him for kindergarten and life. A volunteer will cheer up a cancer patient receiving treatment, exemplifying the deeds of another volunteer. A college student will be doing his best to honor the generosity of the donor for his scholarship.
These are only a few of the ways that Shirley Dick’s legacy lives on. Everyone who was blessed to know Shirley was impacted by her kindness and her willingness to give back to our community.
After Shirley’s passing, Frank, her husband of nearly 64 years, chose to honor her caring spirit by encouraging philanthropy. In addition to memorial contributions for charities where Shirley volunteered, funds remaining in a charitable gift annuity at the Lenawee Community Foundation were utilized as matching gifts for persons who supported the work of the Foundation to enhance the quality of life in Lenawee “For Good. For Ever.”
Although Shirley said, “We have a deep love for the people in Lenawee County,” and “Life is about helping people,” her life spoke much more loudly than her words. She likely never knew how many lives she touched during her lifetime — and how many she continues to positively impact through her legacy.
