Professional Development Workshops

Are you a staff or board member of a nonprofit organization?  Are you clear about state and federal reporting requirements and when you need a solicitation or raffle license?  Would you like to learn how to take the fear out of fundraising?  Would you like to find new board members or explore board best practices?  Does it seem like the needs of the people you serve are outpacing the revenues?

If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, the Lenawee Community Foundation has four workshop opportunities for you:

  1. Keeping your Nonprofit Legal – August 22 or September 6 from 8-10:30 a.m. or September 10 from 2-4:30 p.m.
  2. Fearless Fundraising – October 2 from 8-10:30 a.m. or October 3 from 2-4:30 p.m.
  3. Build a Better Board – October 23 from 8-10:30 a.m. or October 24 from 2-4:30 p.m.
  4. Financial Survival Skills – November 9 from 8-10:30 a.m. or November 13 from 2-4:30 p.m.

All workshops will be held at the Lenawee Community Foundation office, 606 North Evans Street, Tecumseh.  Prior to attending, we ask that you register.

Keeping your Nonprofit Legal will provide information on IRS and state requirements, sales and unrelated business income taxes, activities that can jeopardize nonprofit status, raffle rules, and more.

Fearless Fundraising will share about donor motivations, appeals that work, donor loyalty, board member roles, and reducing the fear when seeking charitable gifts.

Build a Better Board will offer tips in identifying, recruiting, motivating and preparing board members to carry out their roles effectively.

Financial Survival Skills will explore ways to balance budgets, prepare for future financial stability, assess financial health, understand the audit process, and assure financial accountability and transparency.

Interested persons can choose the date and time that works best from the two or three that are offered for each workshop.  The fee is $15 per workshop for the first registrant with additional persons from the same nonprofit able to attend for only $10.  Grant recipient organizations of Lenawee Cares, a program of Lenawee Community Foundation, may attend at no charge, as a service provided to grantees.

For information or to register for any of the workshops contact Sue Hammersmith at 423-1729.
